Our story
A well-thought-out Quebec invention
The PAOMA magnetic blind is an invention of Audrey Janelle, who was at the time president and designer of Paon Design. It was initially created to meet the needs of a client from Saint-Jérôme, Ms. Johanne Caissy. For four years, she had been searching for a solution to dress the window in her steel front door. Her two young children were constantly knocking down the magnetic curtain rod she had bought in a store. She worried about the day one of her daughters would get hit on the head by one of the heavy magnetic hooks! She was determined to find a safe solution without having to drill into her door.
Having a young daughter herself, the problem of her client called out The designer was very interested. She tried to understand why the hooks fell so easily. She discovered that the fact that the hooks were positioned far from the door caused them to tip over when pulled down, acting like a lever. From this came the idea of a flat rod with a magnetic strip running its entire length to better distribute the weight and prevent leverage. To add to the security, She then had the idea of creating a system of repositionable magnets inside the blind to eliminate the cords. Mrs. Caissy's amazement was immediate when she installed and slid the PAOMA magnetic blind along the window frame. According to her, " The solution was so simple and so effective! »
